ASU KEEN Professorships

Congratulations to all KEEN Professorship Awardees

As part of the first two years of the ASU Kern Project, KEEN Professorship awards provided up to $12k in mini-grants to Fulton faculty members who aimed to develop, implement, and disseminate Entrepreneurial Mindset (EM) content within their courses, programs, or labs. While the project is no longer funding this initiative, we would like to honor the recipients of these awards and continue to feature them on this webpage. Congratulations and thank you to all our awardees!

Opportunity

In a dynamic and interconnected world, it is critical for the Fulton Schools to teach a technical skill set along with an entrepreneurial mindset. The entrepreneurial mindset is a problem-solving approach that begins with curiosity about our changing world, connecting information from various resources to gain insight, and identifying unexpected opportunities to create value. To advance this goal, ASU is a partner in the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN), a collaboration of hundreds of engineering faculty educating engineers with an entrepreneurial mindset so they can create personal, economic, and societal value through a lifetime of meaningful work.

To learn more about how you, ASU, and KEEN may collaborate to fundamentally change the landscape of engineering education, vis-a-vis implementation of EM and 3C content within your areas of influence, please review the following resources prior to submitting a mini-grant proposal:

Mini-Grant Goals

The key objectives related to the possible use of mini-grant funds include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Create curriculum innovations that embed aspects of the 3C’s
  • Educate students and fellow faculty about EM and the 3C’s
  • Integrate 3C’s into advancing research
  • Demonstrate the EM and the 3C’s in the prototype development process
  • Provide additional Service Activity opportunities, including outreach activities, engagement with student groups, etc.
  • Advance Co-curricular offerings

Benefits

KEEN Professorship recipients will receive funding, support and recognition as a leader within the cutting-edge realm of engineering Entrepreneurial Mindset education. KEEN Professors and their initiatives will be featured on the KEEN Professorship web page throughout the grant period and beyond.

For information or questions about the ASU Kern Project, please contact the Project Manager, Layla Reitmeier.

KEEN Student Funding Opportunities

KEEN Student Mini-Grants and Research Grants provide funding to students who incorporate an entrepreneurial minded approach in their research, project, or event.

Entrepreneurial Catalysts (EC’s)

The Entrepreneurial Catalysts provide coaching on incorporating  the Entrepreneurial Mindset/3C’s into the project design and ideation process, and related technical advice on the maker space environment and equipment
